&&how to save a life
“I can’t believe you weren’t going to tell me!”
“I was, of course I was Cristina! Just not right away. I don’t want everyone to know yet,”
“Oh, because you having McDreamy’s baby isn’t big news, Meredith?”
“Okay, of course it is! It’s just… what with Callie and George’s baby and all, I decided later would be better,”
“Trust me, I understand, but you might not want to wait too long.”
------------
Working at the prestigious Seattle Grace Hospital and trying to have a life on the side is harder than it looks. Meredith Grey knows this first-hand. Only halfway through her internship, Meredith finds herself pregnant with her boyfriend, Derek’s, baby. She and Derek are, of course, overjoyed, but she has yet to break the news to anyone save for Cristina Yang. Things are just too complicated right now. They’ll get better soon, she tells herself.
Callie Torres is pregnant also, and George O’Malley is every bit the doting, expectant father. Their twins are due in just six months, and already Callie is being fussed over and welcomed by the female interns, which may leave Meredith slightly jealous, hoping she hasn’t waited too long to reveal her own pregnancy.
Isobel Stevens is practically falling all over Alex Karev, trying to get him to see that ever giving up on her was a mistake. But Alex’s eyes are blinded by the beautiful Addison Montgomery, who’s hook-up buddy just happens to be Mark Sloan. Things come full circle in this hospital, where gossip reigns and hot sex is a must for everyday life.
Derek Shepherd is quite possibly the happiest person at Seattle Grace right now. He’s walking on air due to the fact that he’s going to be a father, and that the woman he loves is having his baby. Rumor spreads that Derek may just propose to Meredith soon, although she, of course, knows nothing about these going’s on.
Chief Richard Webber is stepping down and the race for Chief of Surgery gets dangerous. Miranda Bailey almost screws up an entire surgery simply because she is distracted by her Chief interview. Preston Burke, who is happily engaged to Cristina Yang, is not faring much better. His interview went poorly and his work has been the same way ever since. Derek and Sydney Heron are the two favorites for Chief at the moment, and Sydney is exhausting herself, working double overtime to kiss up to Chief Webber.
Meanwhile, Mark Sloan is trying to rebuild his friendship with Derek, which became nonexistent months ago when Mark was found in bed with Derek’s now ex-wife, Addison. Derek and Mark both miss each other’s friendship, especially now that Mark has decided to run for Chief. Will they become lifelong friends again? Or with their estrangement become worse?
A typical day at Seattle Grace, and typical life lessons. Nobody really knows what’s going to happen, but the important thing is that each and everyday, they learn How to Save A Life.
